You’ve Got A Strategy
Let’s talk about what happens after you’ve strategized like we talked about in the prior blog and podcast Strategy and are now ready to take the action you need to make all your strategic plans move forward.
So you’ve deliberated and strategized to develop a creative plan, and it’s completely brilliant (obviously)! What could possibly ever go wrong? Except there is the very true expression about what happens to the best laid plans…
Life Still Happens
Life happens to the best laid plans! And as a result, plans then need to change or adjust accordingly. So we’re going to discuss how to handle when, well life happens; and how to keep it moving from there. Because it’s so important to not let mere obstacles hold us down!
So how are we going to keep it moving when life tries to veer us off our brilliantly strategized plans? When challenges try to make you stuck, how do you instead keep it moving in a forward direction toward your vision instead? Because it definitely can be difficult at times. But don’t worry. You’ve got this thing!
The Golden Keys
Ok so the golden keys to success are the following:
You’ve got to take action if you expect to improve or change your situation or reach your goals in life. Whether your goals be financial, personal, physical health or relationship goals, it takes action in the desired direction to actually achieve them.
I really hate to be the bearer of bad news (and please do not harm the messenger here), but you are not entitled to anything in life. Whatever it is you want in life, you have to work for it. You’ve got to go after it.
And how do we do this? We do this with action. It doesn’t just take one action either. You can’t just make one, measly move and say “well I took my action and didn’t reach my goals, so I guess whoa-is-me, dang the luck.” No, no, no!
You’ve got to keep on taking action. You’ll need to keep moving forward with action until you achieve the success you are looking to achieve.
And the action needs to be meaningful action too. This means the action you are taking should be action steps which you know and believe will lead you to your destination. So for example if you are trying to slay that debt like we talked about in Debt Slayer, but your action is shopping excessively for items which are wants vs. needs; then that is not meaningful action toward your goal.
The action you are taking should be measurable action steps with deadlines attached according to your own strategic plan. But also be prepared that you’re not always going to get it right the first time out of the gate either.
So sometimes you will need to remove or modify an action item which no longer fits the big picture plan. Flex and pivot when appropriate! And only you will know when the times will be when you’ll need to make adjustments to your action steps.
The most important thing is to keep moving and keep trying new things until you find what works for you. Keep taking action towards your goals. You will eventually look back and realize just how far you’ve come on your journey when you keep taking action steps forward.
The all-knowing wizard known as Google defines persistence as: doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. Now that’s what I’m talking about. Google is so smart.
So getting to your vision takes persistence and grit. And much of this is just being consistent and steadily working towards your goals. It requires you to keep going down that track one step at a time.
And when you get knocked off that track or even pushed off that track (because unfortunately you will from time to time), just get yourself back up and keep on tracking forward anyway. Whatever you do, don’t give up!
Keep moving. Keep going even when you are tired and feel like giving up. Because many times our biggest feelings of defeat come right before our biggest victory. So you’ve got to have persistence, and you’ve got to persevere. Keep it moving toward that beautiful light at the end of the tunnel.
The sad truth is so many people don’t ever get to see that beautiful light because they are tracking away down the dark tunnel, and they end up giving up to the feelings of maybe darkness, exhaustion or hopelessness. So they end up quitting right before they reach the end goal even though it is right in their very reach.
They may even quit out of doubt that the light even exists, even though it is literally mere steps around the corner and just hidden from the turn in the dark. So please remember this and keep at the forefront of your mind:
Persevering through the darkness is how we finally see the light!
We oftentimes must get through the scary, dark and lonely tunnel so we can become stronger. This is how we learn the lessons we are supposed to learn along our journey before coming out of the other end to the lighted destination.
The next way to keep it moving is to actually learn the lessons which you are meant to learn along the journey toward your vision.
Because the longer you take to learn the lessons you’re intended to learn on your track through the tunnel toward your ultimate vision or goal, the longer the journey is going to be. Let’s really ponder this concept for a moment…
If you keep face planting, stalling and/or sitting down to rest your weary bones, etc. along your journey toward your light, then it is naturally only going to take you longer (and will probably be more painful as well). So when you do face plant or fall off your little red wagon, it’s important to take a step back and figure out the lesson you need to learn in order to keep moving forward. This way you will not repeat the very things which are holding you back.
Last but certainly not least to help you keep it moving on your journey is a BIG ONE called faith. You’ve got to keep the faith. This can be extremely challenging, trust me. I’ve definitely been tested on faith quite a bit. But you’ve got to have it. You just can’t make it to the light or the end goal without it.
And here’s the thing. You’ve got to have faith in yourself, in your own plan! Because honestly, you may not have many or even any others who have faith in you (insert double sad emojis).
But none of that nonsense matters! In the end, none of the nay-sayers or haters out there trying to hold you down really matter as long as you have faith. Because you’re the only one who really knows your own journey, path and inner guidance system. So have faith in it.
Have faith that you are a highly capable and competent person when you are walking your own path to your goals in life. And remember whatever comes your way, you can handle it. You can. You absolutely freakin’ can!
Fortunately the more action items you take and the more success you get at accomplishing each of these action items, the easier it will get to keep the faith. This is because accomplishment builds confidence that you can handle whatever comes your way. So have faith and confidence in your own journey and in yourself.
I believe you will get the support and collaboration you will need along your journey at the times you need it. So also have faith in that. If you are following your right path and striving to achieve the goals in life that are right for you by listening to your own inner guidance, the proper support will come in when you need it.
So you will get the support you need along the way, but don’t rely on it either. The truth is you’ll need to do most of the work and persisting because it’s ultimately your own path and goals. It isn’t anyone else’s but yours. So makes sense, right?
Stars Through Darkness
Below is a quote from a great man who traveled through much darkness during his time here on earth to help countless people finally see the light. Martin Luther King, Jr. said the following:
“Only in the darkness can you see the stars”.
